Everquest II is based on the hit game Everquest made by Sony Online in 2004. Everquest II takes part once again in the fantasy world of Norrath, but this time, 500 years after the planes of power story. On Norrath itself, dark elves and orcs have destroyed much of Faydwer, the gods have withdrawn from the world in retaliation for the mortal incursions, and the orgres, orcs, goblins, and giants have ravaged all of Antonica. The storyline goes that Antonica was torn apart into smaller islands, now called the shattered lands. The oceans are impassible and the moon Luclin exploded and parts remain in the sky. The entire game takes place in the Age of Destiny, where Queen Antonia Bayle of Qeynos welcomes all good races to her city to help rebuild Norath, but Lucan D'Lere the Overlord of Freeport rules the evil races in plans of conquest.
